A bit of background...I built a keg lofter for BALLS XX this year that did not get to fly for a myriad of reasons certainly to include the fact that the rocket was not quite done, the launch trailer was not quite done, the motor was not quite done and my better half was sick. (Other than that, I was ready!) Bottom line is that I missed BALLS this year. (Waaah) The good news is that everything will be ready for next year. So what’s the problem?Well, the problem is that this guy named Marv who runs a local brewery is going to make me a special brew for me and this rocket. Problem is that we cannot seem to come up with a name for it. That’s where ya’ll come in. Marv and I need help in naming this beer. Now be clear, at this point, the beer has not been made, so I don’t know if it will be a light beer or dark beer. Marv has pretty much agreed to make a beer that will fit the name. That said, something like “BALLS Beer” is a non-starter ‘cause I don’t think that I would be interested in drinking something with a name like that! “Heavenly H-ale”? Ok, maybe. It just seems to me that one of you might be able to come up with a much better name than me. So here’s the deal...Help me name this “F-light Beer” and whoever comes up with the chosen name, I’ll announce who it is and send them a free Tender Descender. (L2 or L3, their choice) So what do ya think? Can ya help me name this brew?If you have any suggestions as to what to name this high fying ale, e-mail them to: cameron@tinderrocketry.com ...and the winner is..."Aletitude Adjustment" submitted by none other than Jimmy Yawn! Oh but wait, in light of the fact that Jimmy Yawn actually only submitted the name "Aletitude" I have decided to ALSO give a Tender Descender to the very close 2nd place finisher, "Contrail Ale" submitted by Shane Justice. By the way, in the event you do not know, Jimmy Yawn has a great website that has very good and useful information on many rocketry related subjects. Here is a list of the suggested beer names that have been submitted. (On a side note here, this rocket will be the first time that I have ever actually flown [and needed] an L3 Tender Descender. FWIW, the keg lofter is 10.3 inches in diameter, 13-1/2 feet tall, and will weigh in at somewhere between 175 to well over 200 pounds on the pad loaded with a pony keg of beer. It will fly to 12,000 to 20,000 feet on a 5 inch diameter, smoky Purple motor somewhere between and 25,000 and 40,000Ns. Oh and by the way, I expect to do what I will call “Triple deployment”. Why you ask? Umm, hello, beer keg needs its own “ 3 step Recovery Program ”!!)
