- I have tried several ways to dye these parachutes. Some ways work better than others. This is the way that I have found works best for me.
- I start with one of those 5 gallon plastic buckets that you can get at places such as Home Depot.
- The LIQUID DYE from RIT works very well. I have found that the powdered dye works poorly to fair at best.
- To dye one parachute, bring about 1/2 gallon of water to boil. Then, bring it outside and dump it into the 5 gallon bucket.
- Add one 8 oz container of liquid RIT dye to the hot water and stir gently.
- Slowly immerse a DAMP parachute into the dye solution. Use a stir stick of some sort to keep the chute in the solution for about 15 minutes.
- Let the chute cool in the solution.
- Remove the chute from the dye solution and rinse with cold water from the garden hose.
- CLEAN UP ANY SPILLED DYE SOLUTION IMEDEATLY –THIS DYE IS QUITE PERMENANT!
